Ayomide
You can feel Ayomideโs excitement as he finally got the job ๐
Ayomide is ecstatic as he writes about finally landing a job. While teaching himself to code last year, he found Scrimba as he started learning React. He took the React basics course by Bob Ziroll, built his own projects, and started applying for jobs this year. After some setbacks, he focused on building his skills - including backend development - and resumed the job search in September. To his surprise, he received a call back from a fintech startup. He had impressed them with his portfolio and skills, and got the job! Ayomide attributes his success to Scrimba's resources and encourages others to pursue their dreams in the industry. ๐ฅฐ
Geoffrey
Chasing a lead into a signed contract ๐คฏ
Geoffrey received an exciting email from the lead he had been pursuing for 5 months, containing a signed contract. The project heโll be taking on involves revamping a large front-end WordPress website with over 40 pages. The client desired a fresh design, improved responsiveness and better performance, along with the ability to fully edit the site. To address this, he chose Astro as the Static Site Generator, CSS/LESS for styling, and DecapCMS for content management. He also prepared a CMS demo for the client. Despite a panic attack he was struck with upon receiving the email, he is confident in meeting the 3-month deadline for the project, which is for a governmental agency. ๐
Matt and Eric
Self-taught devs! ๐ก
Meet Matt Ehrlich and Eric Winkelspecht ๐ฌ๐ง!
They are the hosts of the Self-Taught Devs podcast. And, you guessed it, they are self-taught devs and career changers to boot. Matt was a park ranger, and Eric worked at an IT solutions company but didn't code.
Today, they are a front-end developer and a full-stack developer, respectively, who met through LinkedIn and then decided to host a podcast!
In this episode, you will learn about their coding journeys, the resources they used, and why they decided to be self-taught. They talk about motivation and keeping yourself going, how to create structure, and what to do if you feel guilty when you take a break. If you're curious about what makes a successful self-taught dev, this episode is for you!
Jack
A story of encouragement from a former student! โจ
Jack signed his full-time software developer offer and says it feels surreal to have crossed this imaginary finish-line after starting his journey a year ago. He was lucky to have found out about Scrimba from a friend, which led him to fully commit to becoming a frontend developer in November last year. He was encouraged by the story of Michael, who transitioned to a front-end role with Scrimba's support. Now, he wants to encourage others to keep going forward to achieve their goals with the help of Scrimba. ๐

Frances
A Bootcamp success story! ๐ฅพ
Frances discovered our course is fantastic and great fun. She started the Frontend Career Path in August 2022 after struggling with other providers. Finishing it in June this year, she followed up with a fully-funded 10-week full-stack bootcamp. Two weeks ago, she started her new career as a Junior Software Engineer specializing in JavaScript. She is living proof that a career in tech is possible for anyone, regardless of their background or age. ๐งจ
Chelsea
Leaning on a mentor led to success! ๐ฅณ
After completing a bootcamp in December 2022 and facing multiple rejections, Chelsea found hope in Scrimba and decided to seek a mentor. With his help, she spent another 7 months of dedicating to her learning and refining her skills in JavaScript, React, and backend technologies, yet she endured numerous final-round rejections and even lost her job. However, her perseverance paid off, as she ultimately received two job offers and chose to start as a front-end developer. This success story serves as a reminder to never give up, as success may be just around the corner. ๐
